JOHN BENNETT GEARING UP FOR 2025 FIA FORMULA 2 OPENER

British single-seater rising star John Bennett is ready to tackle the biggest season of his racing career to date as he gets the 2025 FIA Formula 2 Championship campaign underway in Melbourne, Australia later this month (14-16 March).

The Salisbury-based racer is competing full-time in the Formula 1 feeder series this season with leading squad Van Amersfoort Racing, following a superb showing on his championship debut in the final two rounds of the 2024 season, which included scoring a points finish in his maiden feature race in Qatar.

Making history as the first driver ever to make the direct move from the GB3 Championship to FIA Formula 2 full-time, the reigning GB3 vice-champion has been working hard over the winter to be in peak condition physically and mentally for the upcoming campaign.

After competing in the official end-of-season test days at Abu Dhabi in December, the 21-year-old got back behind the wheel of FIA Formula 2 machinery earlier this week for three days of testing around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain (24-26 February).

With that experience under his belt, Bennett is raring to go for the 2025 season opener next month as he tackles the iconic 3.28-mile Albert Park street circuit in Melbourne for the first time. All the action from the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix event will be available to watch in the UK on Sky Sports F1.

John Bennett: “It was great to return to work with Van Amersfoort Racing in Barcelona and get back behind the wheel after the winter break. I felt right at home in the car again and learnt a lot with each lap we completed in Spain.

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead and for the opening round to be at such an iconic F1 circuit like Melbourne is incredibly exciting. I’m feeling confident heading into the weekend and I’m sure we can start on a positive note.”
